It's been a minute since Trippie Redd and Smokepurpp began to promote their single "Crash." With teasers coming every once in a while, we finally have access to the finished product. The track was likely recorded over a year ago as both parties have been playing snippets for months but, regardless, it shows Trippie and Purpp reaching for innovative sounds and trying to change the game. While the Canton rapper may have fallen into a hole recently with two arrests in the last month, Trippie's music does most of the talking for him, asserting that he contribute to the younger generation's shift of hip-hop ideals.
Both making appearances on 2018's XXL Freshman List, Trippie and Smokepurpp are certifiably two of the brightest stars today. Produced by 808-H, the cloudy track features many musical elements in a higher range, contrasting Trip's darker lyrics. The single was unexpectedly released, showing up earlier today on the producer's SoundCloud page with no promotion by either artist involved. While it will likely not be included on either Smokepurpp's upcoming Deadstar 2 project or Trippie's debut album, the two compliment each other on "Crash" with Redd's incessant humming in the background taking up much of the mix.
We will be hearing a lot more from these two when the XXL freestyles and cyphers are released but, for now, it's nice for Purpp and Trippie to have come through on their month-old promise.
Quotable Lyrics:
I just pulled up in a new Ferrari
Might cop me a new Bugatti
Pulling up 6 big Maserati
Fucked your b-tch at the afterparty, whoa
