Yesterday Thanksgiving went down across the United States, with family and friends coming together surrounded by insane amounts of food and drink, hopefully of the delicious variety. We were tracking what your favorite rappers were doing for the family-oriented holiday, and we even got a glimpse of what incarcerated rappers Meek Mill and Bobby Shmurda were treated to behind bars. Even though Meek is locked up, he still went ahead with his own turkey giveaway, while other artists like Big Sean, T.I. and Jeezy each got their turkey giveaway on-- these are rappers we've seen do this year after year, giving back to the community that raised them. Good vibes all around.
Lil Wayne may not have shared his Thanksgiving Day feast on Instagram like his Young Money counterpart Nicki Minaj (although as one of our Instagram commenters said, someone "ghost-cooking" for Nicki or what??), but he did sign on the platform to wish his fans a happy Thanksgiving and thanked them in turn for staying by his side amid all the label drama and beef with Birdman. He also offered an update of sorts on the long-awaited, much-anticipated, and somewhat mythical Dedication 6 album.
"Happy Thanksgiving! I’m so thankful for all my fans for standing by me while I’m enduring this fight with this label. I ain’t shit without y’all! D6 is coming y’all way soon! Thank You," he wrote on a photo that shows him performing in front of a crowd of his fans, appropriately enough.
The last update we got on D6 arrived from Wayne's manager Cortez Bryant just ten days ago, when he mentioned in an Instagram Live stream that D6 might arrive in November or December. Time will tell.
