Conor McGregor was spotted today for the first time since his meltdown at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, as he was led out of the 78th Precinct in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn in handcuffs.
The 29-year old UFC star was led to a waiting police car after being hit with assault charges as a result of the chaos he caused at the UFC 223 Media Day yesterday afternoon. According to the New York Post, McGregor will be arraigned Friday in Brooklyn Criminal Court.
He did not speak to reporters this morning but you can check out the footage, as well as his stoic mugshot, below.
The former lightweight champion was stripped of his title earlier this week, since he hasn’t competed in a UFC fight since winning the 155-pound title back in November 2016. However, that is not the reason that McGregor stormed the Barclay's Center yesterday to confront Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The Irish superstar was allegedly furious at Nurmagomedov for running up on fellow UFC fighter Artem Lobov in a Brooklyn hotel earlier this week, and decided to catch a flight to New York to confront him. McGregor never got his hands on Nurmagomedov, but he did manage to injure several other fighters during his rampage. Lightweight Michael Chiesa and featherweight Ray Borg have both been deemed unfit to compete on Saturday's card due to injuries sustained during the attack. Additionally Artem Lobov, who was part of McGregor's crew yesterday, has been pulled from the card.
On top of all that, Max Holloway has been declared "unfit to fight" Khabib Nurmagomedov for the vacant lightweight championship, which means Anthony Pettis, who was supposed to fight Michael Chiesa, is likely to step in for the main event.
