The David Letterman Interview with Jay-Z off his Netflix special My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, has provided rap fans with even more insight into the inner workings of the Rocafella Dynasty. David Letterman did not hold back, asking Jigga if he and Kanye West were still friends. Jigga's response: "That's my brother, we're beyond friends. Really, like literally, my little brother is Kanye. And like your little brother, things happen sometimes."
Jay-Z is obviously referring to Kanye making rash comments about Beyonce and daughter Blue Ivy before storming off stage during a concert in 2016. The incident dampened their friendship and their work relationship. Since the fallout, Kanye had recorded "Big Brother" in reverence of Jay-Z, who was once his mentor at Rocafella. Jay-Z offered this explanation for the damage dealt and the possibility of a return to their loving ways:
"He knows he crossed the line," Jay said. "He knows. And I know he knows. Because we’ve never let this much space go between one of our disagreements and we’ve had many. It's a part of who we are... He’s an honest person and he’s wrong a lot of times."
Jay-Z also mentioned that regardless of their spat, they remain siblings forever, but he will let 'us' now when hurt feelings have fully mended. The whole interview is now live on the Netflix streaming service, in most markets.
