Kobe Bryant's #8 and #24 jerseys will go up into the rafters at Staples Center during halftime of tonight's game between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers.
Tonight's game, which tips off at 10:30pm ET, will air on NBATV.
Kobe will become the 10th player in Lakers history to have his number retired, joining Lakers legends such as Wilt Chamberlain’s 13, Elgin Baylor’s 22, Gail Goodrich’s 25, Magic Johnson’s 32, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 33, Shaquille O’Neal’s 34, James Worthy’s 42, Jerry West’s 44, and Jamaal Wilkes’ 52.
The Black Mamba ranks as the Lakers all-time leader in regular season games played (1,346), points (33,643), three-pointers made (1,827), steals (1,944) and free throws made (8,378). He also owns the franchise playoff records for games played (220), points (5,640), three-pointers made (292) and free throws made (1,320), according to NBA.com.
Nike is commemorating Kobe's jersey retirement ceremony with a handful of limited edition items including a $524.08 jersey pack and an exclusive "Black Mamba" Nike Air Force 1 Low which is scheduled to release as soon as the game tips off tonight.
A number of Laker legends will be in the building tonight but not former head coach Phil Jackson, who coached Kobe during all five of his championship seasons.
