On Monday, December 18th, the Los Angeles Lakers will celebrate Kobe Bryant's illustrious career by raising both of his jerseys, #8 and #24, into the rafters at Staples Center. Nike will be commemorating Kobe's career on the 18th as well, with the release of a $524.08 jersey pack.
According to J23 App, the special edition jerseys feature Kobe's signature, Black Mamba, Championship stars and the December 18th date in the tag area. The jersey will come in a soft touch box with clear window and magnetic closure.
The $524.08 price tag reflects the five NBA championships Kobe won as a member of the Lakers, as well as the two numbers he wore during his 20 seasons in the league.
The jersey retirement ceremony is scheduled to take place at halftime during the Lakers game against the Golden State Warriors next Monday, which will make Kobe the 10th player in Lakers history to have his jersey retired.
The Black Mamba ranks as the Lakers all-time leader in regular season games played (1,346), points (33,643), three-pointers made (1,827), steals (1,944) and free throws made (8,378). He also owns the franchise playoff records for games played (220), points (5,640), three-pointers made (292) and free throws made (1,320), according to NBA.com.
