Rae Sremmurd and Childish Gambino recently announced that they'll be heading on tour together. It wasn't the most expected combination for a tour but it definitely sounds like it's going to be lit. Rae Sremmurd recently spoke to Billboard about how it came about but it looks like they have more in store than just a tour together.
Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee broke down how they ended up linking up. Jxmmi says they met overseas at a studio. From their, he ended up DJ'ing one of Gambino's house parties.
"He's just a cool guy and we got the same type of vibe, so you can expect good music to come out of this." He said.
Swae chimed in about what they might have in store. "I got a laptop with about 1,000 bangers, I know Childish Gambino got about 2,000 or 3,000, who knows?" He said. "We're gonna come together and make a whole project like, "Redbone" and "Black Beatles.""
We're definitely not opposed to a Childish Gambino and Rae Sremmurd project. However, with SremmLife 3 on the way, it'll probably be a while until we get that.
They also explained why they're doing a triple disc album with SremmLife 3. Apparently, the chatter about Swae going solo was a catalyst in the move.
"We wanted to give y'all something different because it's one side saying, "Man, this person should go solo," so why don't we just end the argument and give it to you," Jxmmy said, "Then give you Rae Sremmurd so you can see why we are Rae Sremmurd and who we are as individuals."
They didn't confirm any of the guest appearances on their upcoming project but maybe we'll see Childish Gambino somewhere.
