Earlier this month, it was reported that Jay-Z and Beyonce would be headlining a benefit concert in New York City. While the rumors floated around, there was no actual confirmation of that happening. However, it turns out that the third annual "TIDAL X Brooklyn" show will also serve as an effort to raise awareness and funds for natural disaster relief and those that were affected by Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Maria and the earthquakes that struck Mexico recently.
The TIDAL x Brooklyn concert is set to include performances by JAY-Z, Jennifer Lopez, DJ Khaled, Kaskade, Chris Brown, Cardi B, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Yo Gotti, A$AP Ferg, Fifth Harmony, Joey Bada$$, Willow Smith, Belly, Iggy Azalea, Mack Wilds, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Princess Nokia, Tee Grizzley, Rapsody, Kranium and more. The festival will be hosted by Angie Martinez will include special guest appearances by Rosie Perez and Lin Manuel-Miranda. The event is set to take place on October 17th.
Bacardi Rum announced they would be sponsoring the concert and will also donate $1.3 million to TIDAL’s Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Efforts. They've already donated for disaster relief support to organizations helping that are affected by the disasters.
Bacardi Chairman, Facundo L. Bacardi said in a statement, "This partnership with TIDAL: X touches on two areas that are very close to our heart – music and philanthropy. BACARDĺ is proud to play a part in raising awareness and funding for the regions affected by these terrible disasters, including Puerto Rico, Florida and the Caribbean region -- all homes to our family and company."
With Jay-Z owning TIDAL, this is the second relief effort that he's announced. Roc Nation is auctioning off signed merchandise from artists at Made In America festival. The proceeds from that will be donated to relief funds for victims of the recent hurricanes.
