Netflix subscribers are about to get a whole lot more content in the new year. The streaming service has announced that it will release 80 original films in 2018. CBC reports that the company will up its budget to approximately $8 billion dollars, from 2017's previous budget of $6 billion.
In light of the good news that essentially means we may all be spending less time trying to pick something to watch, Netflix also revealed the top 20 shows users binge-watch the fastest. The new trend comes after the platform saw a hike in "binge-racers" between 2013 and 2016.
Netflix released an official press release with the information and numbers to prove. The statement reads that 8.4 million members choose to race through an entire series "within 24 hours of its release."
“There’s a unique satisfaction that comes from being the first to finish a story -- whether it's the final page of a book or the last, climactic moments of your favorite TV show." Brian Wright, Vice President of Original Series said. “Netflix allows you to watch in a way you never could before, and there's nothing better than seeing a show engage our members and ignite a passion for viewing.”

Netflix shared its third-quarter earnings yesterday morning where the service gained 4.45 million subscribers overseas and 850,000 in the United States for a grand total of 109.3 million users worldwide.
One of the most exciting upcoming releases, that also made the binge-racing list, is the ever-so-popular Stranger Things. Season two of the series debuts on October 27th. We recently posted an exclusive clip from the new season that sees one of the leads, Eleven, getting herself out of a sticky situation - literally. If Stranger Things is number ten on the list of binge-worthy shows, come October 27th it's bound to drop to top five, at least.
