In case you missed it last month, New Orleans veteran Michael Lawrence Tyler, better known as the rapper Mystikal, turned himself into police for an incident of sexual assault and was eventually arrested on first degree rape charges. The charges stemmed from a reported sexual assault that took place in October of 2016 during his "Southern Hip Hop" tour along with Averweone Holman, who was also arrested last month.
At the time, Mystikal said he turned himself in "to get this business reconciled, get this behind me, man,” but unfortunately it’s not looking like it’s going to be that easy. In fact, things are going south quickly for the “Shake Ya Azz” rapper after sex criminal experts found out that the DNA evidence recovered during the initial investigation linked Mystikal and Averweone Holman to the alleged rape.
On Tuesday (September 19), Mystikal was indicted by a Caddo grand jury with one count each of first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping. His bond has been set at $3 million dollars.
For what its worth, Mystical had pleaded guilty to sexual battery and extortion charges back in 2003. He eventually served a six-year prison sentence, and was required to register as a sex offender in Louisiana, which adds another element to the case. All in all, its not looking good at the moment for the N.O. rapper.
In addition to Mystical, Averweone Darnell Holman was also indicted on one count each of first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping. His bond has been set at $3 million as well. Meanwhile, the third accomplice Tenichia Monieck Wafford, was indicted on one count of obstruction of justice. Her bond is set at $500,000.
