Macklemore talks about his scary experience behind the wheel.

Macklemore is in the middle of a musical renaissance of sorts when it comes to his recent releases. As part of the duo who were behind hits like "Thrift Shop" and "Can't Hold Us," the Seattle, Washington native has now struck out on his own, crafting a new album that is due out on September 22nd. We've already heard some of the tracks off of that upcoming LP, Gemini, such as the soulful "Glorious" and the bouncy bubblegum rap track that is "Marmalade." To add some more hype to the album ahead of its public unveiling, Mack sat down with DJ Envy and Angela Yee over at The Breakfast Club to talk about his new music, as well as a variety of other topics. However, the first stop for Envy in the conversation was to ask the rapper about the recent car crash that he was unfortunately a part of.

From what Macklemore divulged on the show, an alleged drunk driver plowed into his Maybach, completely totaling the front of his ride. "I was with my nephews in the car," he added. "14-year-old in the front, 10-year-old in the back [...] we were driving home, driving them to the hotel. Guy came, taking a turn that you should've probably taken at 15 mph, he was probably going 50." According to Macklemore, the unnamed driver nearly tipped his truck before smashing right into the other vehicle. "[It was] that split-second of 'am I gonna die'?" the rapper added. "I had never been in a car accident like that. I've been in fender benders and whatnot but that was... it was scary man." Thankfully, Macklemore seems to be doing fine physically and there were no major injuries reported at the time of the incident. For what it's worth, the emcee was also driving on a suspended license, but there's no word on whether that has or will come back to haunt him.

Macklemore's upcoming release Gemini will boast some big names as featured artists on tracks that we still haven't heard yet, including the likes of Offset. He'll also be hitting the road for a new tour as of October the 6th, which kicks off in Portland, OR. Check out his full interview with The Breakfast Club below.
