Spike Lee's "She's Gotta Have It" Renewed For Second Season

Spike Lee's famed film and now series, will see a season two return.

The 1986 film She's Gotta Have It recently saw its series remake debut on Netflix. The show - that follows Nola Darling, a young black woman who doesn't know what kind of guy she wants to be with so she dates three - will officially be seeing a season two in 2018.

The second instalment was announced by creator Spike Lee and his wife with a video on Instagram. The couple wished fans a happy New Year, adding "and there's guna be a second season of She's Gotta Have it!" Another video to Instagram, posted by DeWanda Wise who stars as Nola, sees her accepting a bouquet of flowers with a caption that reads, "Back ta werq! Season ✌🏾 is OFFICIAL!!! Can’t wait to return to BK. Congrats to aaallll us."

A particular episode of season one sparked an online campaign titled #MyNameIsnt, after Nola was attacked by a man while walking home. After the suspect yelled, “Aye, Yo Ma!” at Nola to where she ignored him, he then grabbed her wrist claiming he just wanted "to talk to her." The episode then sees Nola hanging up posters all over the city that read, "My Name Isn't...." 

The campaign spilt over into the real-world where many women tweeted "#MyNameIsnt..." along with catcalls they hear on the regular - such as honey, sweet cheeks, sexy and so on. 

Variety reports that season two has been picked up for eight more episodes with no official release date.
