Let's talk about Kodak Black for a second. Do people click on his songs just to hate on them? The South Florida rapper, and former XXL Freshman, seems to end up in our top ten nearly every other week, but rarely releases songs that garner more than a 70% user approval rating. To be fair, Kodak does drop loosies at a wildly prolific rate— ten solo joints arrived in September and October alone, and that's hot on the heels of August's Project Baby 2. But it seems more logical for these songs to decrease in views than for the clicks to stay coming while the scores remain low. How long will he stay relevant but unpopular on HNHH?
Behind Kodak's week-leading tally of three songs in our top ten, there's a whole gaggle of runners up— Offset, 21 Savage, Metro Boomin, and Nicki Minaj all appear twice apiece. New songs barely missing out on the top ten this week include Roy Wodds, Lil Yachty, and Swae Lee's "Afterparty" (#11), N.E.R.D. and Rihanna's "Lemon" (#12), Ace Hood's "3 Bless" (#13), and Kodak Black's "Down South" (#14).
10. Kodak Black - Halloween
Kodak dropped off four loosies last Sunday, but this wasn't one of them. "Halloween" arrived two days later on the titular holiday, illustrating my point about Kodak's relentless release schedule. This one actually fares pretty well approval-wise, currently sitting at 70% while it debuts at #10.
9. Chris Brown - Last All Night
Another artist who's been dropping music left and right and in the process, becoming no stranger to our top ten in the last month, is Chris Brown. Fresh off the release of his 45-track Heartbreak on a Full Moon, he decided to drop an track that somehow didn't make the cut. "Last All Night" again shows that unlike Kodak, Breezy's approval rating doesn't run counter to his prolificacy, getting 93% approval and a #9 debut.
8. Kodak Black - Snap Shit
The second of Kodak's three entries this week is "Snap Shit," a song that fared substantially worse than "Halloween" in the ratings department. Still, its paltry 26% approval rating doesn't stop it from debuting at #8.
7. Offset & 21 Savage Feat. Travis Scott - Ghostface Killers
One of the highlighted tracks, "Ghostface Killers," from Offset, 21, and Metro Boomin's surprise Halloween collab tape, Without Warning breaks into the top ten at #7 and finishes with a 92% user approval rating.
6. Lil Uzi Vert Feat. Nicki Minaj - The Way Life Goes (Remix)
Nicki had been teasing her remix to one of the best Luv is Rage 2 tracks for quite a while, and although her take on "The Way Life Goes" managed to chart, it didn't really sit well with users. The remix only musters a 48% approval rating, but still debuts at #6.
5. Fabolous & Jadakiss Feat. Future - Stand Up
In my review of Without Warning, I noted that 21 Savage and Offset resembled a Jason Vorhees/Freddy Kruger-type duo, but eventually, it seems like we'll actually receive the long-teased Fabolous/Jadakiss tape that actually aspires to that comparison. Fab first announced the joint Freddy Vs. Jason tape in February of last year, but "Stand Up" is only the second track we've heard from it. Needless to say, people are excited for the project, because this track debuts at #5.
The only repeat from last week, "Motor Sport" was too big to fall out of the top ten, let alone the top five. In its second week out, it's down three spots from #1 to #4.
3. Kodak Black - Roll N Peace 2
Exemplifying HNHH users' feeling about Kodak is "Roll in Peace 2," a track that racked up the third-most views of this week but also got 73 "Make It Stop" votes to 11 "VERY HOT"s, and 66 thumbs down to just four thumbs up. It finishes with an unheard of 16% approval rating yet still debuts at #3.
2. CyHi The Prynce Feat. Kanye West - Dat Side
G.O.O.D. Music understudy CyHi The Prynce is a rarity in our top ten, but your little sister could drop a track with a new Kanye verse and it'd wind up here too. "Dat Side" is another single from CyHi's long-delayed "No Dope on Sundays" project, and it debuts at #2.
1. Big Sean & Metro Boomin Feat. 21 Savage - Pull Up N Wreck
It was a big week for Metro, who not only delivered a masterclass in horror trap on Without Warning, but also showed his versatility by producing a follow-up to "Bounce Back" for Big Sean. "Pull Up N Wreck," which also brings 21 Savage along for the ride, easily debuts at #1.
