North Carolina's Rapsody caught the attention of many fans & people through her memorable appearance on Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly cut “Complexion” back in 2015. Since then, Rapsody has made quite the name for herself following the success of her Crown EP last year and landing herself a deal with Roc Nation last Summer. While having remained relatively quiet for the most part of 2017, with exception to a couple #JamRocFriday releases this Summer, Rapsody is about to change that here soon as she’s finally getting ready to release her first album under Roc Nation called Laila’s Wisdom, which is slated to arrive later this month on September 22nd.
But before it arrives, Rapsody has given us an idea of what to expect from the project as she’s gone ahead and revealed some of the features on it in her latest Instagram post. From the looks of it, the 14-track album will feature a slew of lyrical wordsmiths, including “Top Dawg” Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, Black Thought, BJ the Chicago Kid, Busta Rhymes, Musiq Soulchild, Gwen Bunn, TDE’s Lance Skiiiwalker, Terrace Martin, and L.A. trio Moonchild. Unfortunately we don’t know the official tracklist or song titles yet, but that just helps build anticipation moving forward.
To coincide with this announcement, Rapsody also went ahead and shared a snippet of the upcoming record with Anderson Paak as well, which makes me presume that this could be the next single to be heard hopefully dropping this Friday?
Available now for pre-order on iTunes, those of you who take advantage of the early purchase will receive a new record for free as an instant download called “You Should Know” featuring Busta Rhymes. You can listen to that right here if you missed it last Friday.
Check out Rapsody’s IG post (below) and share your thoughts on it in the comments. If you happen to have a question for the female emcee, then you can ask her yourself in Wednesday’s live Q&A going down on Twitter at 12 PM. Not sure if that’s EST time zone, but assuming so.
