Rapsody caught the attention of many fans & people through her memorable appearance on Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly cut “Complexion” back in 2015. Since then, the female North Carolina rapper has made quite the name for herself following the success of her Crown EP last year and landing herself a deal with Roc Nation last Summer. While having remained relatively quiet for the most part of 2017, with exception to a couple #JamRocFriday releases this Summer, Rapsody is about to change that here soon as she’s finally getting ready to release her first album under Roc Nation called Laila’s Wisdom, which is slated to arrive later this month on September 22nd.
Laced with 14 tracks in total, the follow up to last year’s Crown EP is set to feature a slew of lyrical wordsmiths, including “Top Dawg” Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, Black Thought, BJ the Chicago Kid, Busta Rhymes, Musiq Soulchild, Gwen Bunn, TDE’s Lance Skiiiwalker, Terrace Martin, and L.A. trio Moonchild. Meanwhile, production will be handled by the likes 9th Wonder, The Soul Council, Nottz, and Terrace Martin Rapsody just announced Thursday.
Available now on iTunes, those of you who take advantage of the early purchase will receive this new song for free as an instant download called “Pay Up.”
Following up “You Should Know” featuring Busta Rhymes, “Pay Up” is another laid back, lyrical onslaught from the NC emcee thats finds her spitting effortlessly over some groovy, classical hip-hop production. With an added sample & female vocals in play, this record will definitely have you head bobbin' to the beat, before Rapsody picks up the bars & does what she does best. So far, Rapsody is two for two with releases off Laila’s Wisdom, and we sure as hell can't wait to hear her upcoming collab with Kendrick Lamar & Lance Skiiiwalker called “Power.”

Quotable Lyrics:
Big money on ya' visa
Only way you get her, only way she won't leave ya
She said, "How much you think it cost for this weave, huh?"
You like the way it look? Well baby, it's gon' cost some
Spoiled, look good, she like real leather
She like exotic trips, good weather
