Washington Redskins wide receiver Terrelle Pryor has opened up about the verbal altercation he had with a fan at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday Night, saying he was provoked after being called the N-word.
After the Redskins' loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night, Pryor was heckled by fans as he headed into the locker room, and video footage shows Pryor turning around to give the fan the finger before being restrained by the team's strength and conditioning coach Chad Englehart.
You can check out the footage below.
Last night Terrelle Pryor shared his account of what happened on his instagram live story, and says it is the exact reason why players in the NFL are kneeling during the national anthem.
The caption reads,
"Being called a N----- several times to the point where an NFL employee had to step to me and stand by me the whole game from 2nd quarter on is exact reason why guys are kneeling during the anthem. I chose not to kneel because as a team we decided to be one and stand ... but as I walked in [the] tunnel hearing some of you call me n-----and say 'F you' to me, me flicking the person off is more deserving. I do apologize to my teammates and the organization. But at some point you keep calling us the n-word we going to start acting up."
According to ESPN, the NFL is reviewing all aspects of the incident, a league spokesman said Thursday, including what took place in the stands.
Pryor and the Washington Redskins, 2-2, are on a bye this week but will return to the field in Week 6 for a home game against the San Francisco 49ers.
