Cleveland Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson will reportedly be out for a month due to a calf injury he sustained during Cleveland's 124-107 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night. Thompson was forced to leave the game in the second quarter and did not return.
According to multiple reports, the left calf injury is expected to keep Thompson sidelined until at least December. The 26-year old big man, who was recently put back into the Cavs' starting lineup, is averaging just 4.4 points and 6.1 rebounds in 21.6 minutes per game this season.
Thompson began the year coming off the bench as Tyronn Lue opted to start newly acquired Jae Crowder and Kevin Love in the front court, but he switched things up as the team has gotten out to a poor start. The Cavs are already playing without Isaiah Thomas, who isn't expected to play until January at the earliest.
With last night's loss to the Pacers, their Cavs' fourth straight L, the defending Eastern Conference champs are now 3-5 on the season and are giving up 11.9 points per game, which ranks them 26th in the NBA.
After opening up the season with back to back wins over the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland has dropped five of six including a 21-point loss to the Orlando Magic at home, a 19-point loss to the New York Knicks at home and a 22-point loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, as well as an L on the road in Brooklyn.
Cleveland will look to right the ship without Tristan Thompson when they return to the court tomorrow night against the 4-3 Wizards in Washington D.C.
