With the release of Humanz, the Gorillaz made their way back into the limelight and delivered an exceptional album. Once the project dropped, they teased the super deluxe vinyl box set of the record which includes fourteen unreleased tracks. They recently hit up Zane Lowe's Beats1 show where they premiered a brand new single off of it featuring Little Simz.
Gorillaz unveil their latest single "Garage Palace" featuring UK femcee, Little Simz. The track falls in vein with the UK's grime scene, taking a more UK garage tone with the production while Little Simz goes in on it with her fast flow. Simz is in a lane of her own right now much like how the Gorillaz paved their own way. In the interview with Zane Lowe, Damon Albarn said that her individuality is really what drew him to work with her.
As a lot of the Gorillaz work, they also came through with a visualizer for the single. It's an epic little cartoon video that fits the Halloween spirit. Gorillaz and Little Simz are seen fending off zombies throughout in a arcade video game fashion. It includes the cartoon members of the band as well as a Little Simz.
Aside from the release of this single, Albarn has already stated plans to release another Gorillaz project in the near future. It's interesting considering that it took about seven years to deliver Humanz. The collaboration with Little Simz was among the "40 to 45" unreleased song that didn't make the cut for Humanz. Albarn previously teased a surprise album in the vein of their 2010 album The Fall.
Quotable Lyrics
Known to the world, do you feel this?
Trapped in my mind
Hope I can find solitude
I'm connecting all of these pieces
