What will a Smokepurpp and Travis Scott collaboration sound like?

Smokepurpp is really out here, making connections with fellow rappers in the industry, that go above and beyond his circle of Florida-bred collaborators like Lil Pump and Wifisfuneral. Although we imagine he'll always stay loyal to his day ones, in recent months, we've seen the South Florida native's clout rise, as he teamed up with Juicy J for "The Streets Love," received a co-sign from D.R.A.M. in the way of a collab teaser, and now, has received another nod of approval, from La Flame. Are you on board yet, or are you waiting for Kendrick Lamar to send out a tweet?

The polarizing rapper has been working on an album for quite some time, DEADSTAR, which he first discussed with us back in May, following our On the Come Up episode with him (catch both of those videos below, and if you haven't seen, we launched our new season of On the Come Up yesterday, with help from Tee Grizzley). At that time, he mentioned a dream collaboration (3:03 mark) would be with Young Thug-- definitely seems like he's not too far off from realizing that dream, at the rate he's going.

During an Instagram Live stream, captured below, Smokepurpp gives us a glimpse inside his session with the Houston native, which also includes some lean and beat that may or may not be produced by Ronny J (but sounds like it bangs, whatever the case is). Travis is seen low-key on the couch in the corner of the studio. Perhaps last night's studio session with Travis Scott will land inclusion on the forthcoming DEADSTAR project? Or else, maybe we'll get to hear it when Travis finally blesses us with Astroworld

DEADSTAR is reportedly arriving in September, which "sounds like nothing I've ever heard myself before." So stay tuned for updates and new music from Purpp as we enter into the new month. After that, Smokepurpp has plans to release Sound of Space. In October, you can catch him as part of the lit line-up for Bay Area's edition of Rolling Loud.
