It's been a good year for Smokepurpp. The rapper's been dropping loose singles and videos throughout the year, making his name known to the masses. With the success of his 2016 mixtape, Up Now Fuck Next, he entered another level in the rap world. The mixtape helped him gain a dedicated fan base and was the stepping stone to get where he is today. Last week, the South Florida native delivered his debut project, Deadstar. A project that took his most appealing qualities and compacted it within 16 song tracklist. A few hours after the project dropped, he revealed "Phantom," a leftover from the project. Today, he comes through with the visuals to assist it.
It's a short song, so Smokepurpp had to get his point across within the two minutes. The video consists of Smokepurpp turning up in a driveway and garage while surrounded by a Rolls Royce Phantom and other foreign vehicles with his homies. Along with his squad, which also includes a prominent cameo from Lil Pump, they display the same level of ignorant behavior in the video as they rap about in their music. They all get together around the exotic cars while they smoke blunts, sip lean and just get buck. While the tone of the production has a dark feel to it, Smokepurpp and his boys look like they're enjoying life.
Within the span of a day, Smokepurpp not only released the audio track of this song and dropped his debut album Deadstar. He also announced that he penned a deal with Travis Scott's Cactus Jack label. While Scott didn't appear on the album, Purpp also dropped their collab track "Fingers Blue" on the day of the announcement. With this new label situation with Scott, it'll be interesting to see what he gets up to in the future.
