On Thursday, news surfaced online that Smokepurpp’s long awaited Deadstar project would feature the likes of Chief Keef, Yo Gotti, and a surprise guest appearance from Travis Scott, who would be appearing on a song produced by Mike Dean. While this news instantly helped build hype for Deadstar, once midnight hit fans were a little disappointed to see that Travis Scott wasn't featured on the album as Purpp informed us. But about an hour after the album was out, the South Florida rapper decided to fulfill his promise and unleash the highly anticipated record with Travis Scott on his soundcloud page called “Fingers Blue.”
It’s unclear at the moment if this will eventually make it on the album’s tracklist or not, because as of now neither iTunes or Spotify have it listed, but at least Purpp decided to drop it for us, along with another song called “Phantom.”
Going in over production from Ronny J & Frank Dukes, Purpp & Travis Scott rap about counting hundreds til their “fingers blue,” just as the title depicts. With Purpp handling the chorus and rapping about fuckin bitches in a Wraith, Travis comes in for the second verse and boasts about his diamond jewelry, among other things. Take a listen and let us know what you think. Deadstar available now on iTunes.
To coincide with the release of this single, Smokepurrp also revealed that he had just signed a deal with Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Records. While neither artist have made an official statement, footage of the two talking over FaceTime surfaced Friday morning and in it you can hear the two talk about the signing and Smokepurpp asked about getting one of the 9 new chains La Flame just copped from Elliott Avianne last week (see below). So it definitely looks to be official. Congrats to Purpp!
Quotable Lyrics:
Till my fingers blue, till my fingers blue
I like countin' hunnids till my fingers blue
Lamborghini roadster this is not the coupe
If I slap the top off then you better shoot
Diamond teeth, diamonds white and pink
Back in sync, just in time to drink
