Sydney Sweeney says that her father and grandfather both walked out of the room when they saw her performance in "Euphoria."

Sydney Sweeney says that her dad and Grandfather walked out of the room when they first watched her performance in Euphoria. Sweeney recalled their reactions during an interview on Sunday Today With Willie Geist.

"My mom visited me on set at the time, so she knew the story and I talked to her a lot about it — my dad didn't," Sweeney explained. "Yeah, I didn't prepare my dad. At all."

From there, Sweeney continued while laughing: "I mean, how do you bring it up in conversation? And also, when I talk to my dad, it's usually not about work. We talk, like, father-daughter conversations. He decided he was going to watch it, without telling me, with his parents." She added: "My dad and my grandpa turned it off and walked out. But my grandma is a big supporter of mine. She's a big fan of mine. Actually, I bring her, usually, all over the world to my different sets and I make her an extra."

She also explained why she chose to take on the role. "'I think I tend to drift toward characters who might read one way on a page, and I like to find layers to that character," Sweeney explained. "Finding the layers and just, the emotional depth to who she is and why she is, how she acts or how she thinks, she's a beautiful, broken character."

Sweeney will be returning for a third season of Euphoria, although HBO has yet to set a premiere date. It's believed that new episodes won't be released until at least 2025. The show's costume designer, Heidi Bivens, previously teased to Vogue that the story will take place "approximately five years in the future" after the characters are out of high school. While most cast members will be returning, Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat, recently announced her departure from the show.
