Cole further detailed the film in a press release. “This is a story of a daughter’s love for her mother, and although my heart remains broken from her untimely passing, I am honored to be sharing it with the world,” she said. “Playing the role of myself was a unique opportunity to re-live special moments in my life that also gave me the chance to process her loss in ways I did not expect. I miss her every day, and even though she is not here, her presence was felt throughout this film. Mom, I love you.”

The film will prominently feature Cole's mother, Frankie Lons, who passed away in October 2021 after a drug overdose. She was 61 years old. When it was announced that the film was being made, some fans criticized her for exploiting her late mother. In response, Cole fired back on social media: “Degrading my mother. ? I wanted the best for my mom. You prefer my story not be my story? At times I have too. But my truth is my truth. I just live mine loud. (while some suffer in silence. But This will come wit all that I do, So speak YOUR TRUTH, but yours ain’t mine."
