Whether you’ve realized it or not, Kap G has been having himself quite the year so far in 2017. From being named to this year’s XXL Freshman class to dropping off his debut album SupaJefe back in April, which featured the recently-announced Gold single “Girlfriend,” the fast-rising ATL crooner has been on a pretty meteoric rise to some mainstream success this year. Looking to keep his buzz alive & strong, the XXL Freshman decides to return to the scene today and share a new song & accompanying video called “Slump,” which he announced over the weekend was on the way.
Going in over the dark key & piano-driven production, Cap switches up his flow & spits some lazy, slurred rhymes, while addressing wanting to get ”slumped” by the lean & drugs. “Where my cup, po it up/ roll it up roll it up let’s get slumped/ You been up you been up you been up/ that’s what’s up thats whats up,” he spits on the chorus. It’s unclear at the moment on where this will end up, but hopefully there’s more to follow it.
As for the video itself, it features some trippy & tron-like effects while the ATL crooner brings the drug-references to life with the Ioud & lean in this Louie Knows-directed clip. It follows up his latest video for “Rings,” which dropped last month as well as his latest feature on Raven Felix’s lead single “Phase Me,” off her newly-released Valifornication album that dropped last Friday (listen here).
Check it out and let us know what you think. While you’re at it, be sure to revisit his debut album SupaJefe right here if you haven't done so already. Features on it include Chris Brown, Pharrell, Dae Dae & more.
Quotable Lyrics:
I had to run it up, went got my money up
You ain’t not one of us, you ain’t not one of us
And my partner got the bricks, they can build a house
Get ’em buy the load, fly ’em to the dirty south
