You guys don't know this, I received death threats throughout the whole week, and they just said it was simply too dangerous, so we got out of there." It seems that the Golden Boy promoter had to leave for his own safety. The build-up for Davis and Garcia was bad blood and hurt feelings until the final bell rang.

Hopkins was banned from everything dealing with the match after a dust-up with Davis and his camp at the weigh-ins. According to De La Hoya, Davis' camp had Hopkins banned with the claim that he was trying to rub steroid cream on Davis. Video of the incident quickly circulated around Twitter. The incident had many fans wondering if Hopkins was guilty of the bizarre accusations.
