In an effort to continue the ever-growing Air Jordan line, Jordan Brand has recently turned to some of Michael Jordan's more memorable off court moments as inspiration for new colorways and designs.
For instance, the "Letterman" Air Jordan 1s that released last year, the "Motorsports" Air Jordan 4 that dropped a few months back, and this upcoming Pinnacle "Flight Jacket" Air Jordan 6s which serve as a nod to the quilted, olive green bomber jacket that MJ wore during his first appearance on Saturday Night Live in 1991.
The kicks come decked out in a quilted, water-resistant, olive green nylon upper accompanied by black accents and an icy outsole. The special edition 6s will reportedly come in an exclusive box that includes some of Michael Jordan’s iconic posters, ads and sketches of classic Air Jordans.
Additionally, Jordan Brand will be releasing a satin jacket similar to the one MJ donned on SNL over 25 years ago.
The limited edition quilted satin jackets have already been gifted to a few members of the Jordan Brand extended family, and is expected to release in limited quantities prior to the Air Jordan 6's release this Fall.
As of now, the Flight Jacket 6s are rumored to release on September 1st for the retail price of $225. That stay, you should stay locked to SNKRS and select major retailers for official release information and store locations.
Fans of the Air Jordan 6 will be happy to know that this isn't the only brand new colorway releasing before the year is over.
Jordan Brand will also be releasing a wheat "Golden Harvest" colorway, as well as a black UNC rendition and a special edition "Gatorade" joint which pays homage to the iconic "Like Mike" commercials. No word yet on whether the "Gatorade" 6s will also feature a special edition box or any extra accessories like this upcoming SNL-inspired release.
