The much anticipated mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor has been announced for August 26th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Mayweather, 40, is heavily favored in the upcoming welterweight bout against the 28-year old McGregor, but that doesn't mean there's any less hype heading into this crossover match between the undefeated boxer and the face of the UFC.
And don't think Conor McGregor is going to resort to any of his ingrained MMA tactics if he becomes frustrated, because he is contractually prohibited from "going rogue" and throwing a kick or elbow.
Dana White explained, per USA Today,
“There is no way that will happen,” UFC President Dana White said, on a Wednesday evening conference call. “That is absolutely in the contract, No.1."
“No. 2 this is a boxing match under the rules of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. When you talk about a guy like Floyd Mayweather — the lawsuit if that ever happened ... you all know how much Conor likes money. Conor would depart with a whole lot of money if that ever happened.”
Naturally, twitter has been buzzing ever since the fight was made official last night.
