College forward Jalen DeLoach has put up decent numbers in his young college career. A sophomore at Virginia Commonwealth University, DeLoach led the Rams in rebounds and blocks in 2022-23. VCU won the Atlantic 10 Conference but were bounced in the first round of March Madness by St Mary's. However, before he was a college athlete, the Savannah native was part of Team Huncho. Team Huncho is a basketball team operated in partnership with Quavo. The team currently plays in the 3SSB league and has a partnership with Adidas.
DeLoach officially entered the transfer portal after the season and is regarded as one of the top forwards available after making major strides during his time at VCU. While DeLoach intends to use all five of the official visits awarded to transferring players, the first stop on his list is Penn State. Quavo seemed especially hyped about this fit. The former Migos rapper went as far as drop a hype post on social media.
Quavo Drops IG Post About PSU Visit
After DeLoach confirmed a visit to Penn State this weekend, Quavo posted an image of DeLoach tearing a basketball with the caption, "@teamhunchobasketball We Moving J Js fish&chicken @jalendeloach4." Quavo is definitely excited for his young former star to potentially become a Nittany Lion next season. Team Huncho followed DeLoach's college journey closely when he was being courted in 2020. They held an announcement event for him when he initially committed to the Rams.
Penn State feels like the most likely move for DeLoach, who would be following VCU head coach Matt Rhoades to University Park. Rhoades was hired on March 29 after Micah Shrewsberry left Penn State for Notre Dame. Rhoades will attempt to turn around a Penn State team that went 14-17 last season. Penn State has not recorded a winning season since the 2019-20 season. However, DeLoach to Penn State is not a done deal. He is also expected to take visits to Indiana, Florida State, San Diego State, and Miami. Regardless of where DeLoach's next college stop is, it's nice to see Quavo putting so much vocal support into the young athletes he helped give an opportunity to.
