Tristan Thompson recently made waves with his signing with the Los Angeles Lakers. The NBA veteran was brought in to fill out the Lakers playoff roster. Also, to be there in case of emergency injury. Something the Lakers have to think about this post-season. The team has had to deal with many major injuries this season. Including issues with star players LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Having Thompson on the bench could be a great insurance policy for Los Angeles.
Thompson is no stranger to teaming up with LeBron. The pair were teammates in Cleveland during James' second stint with the Cavaliers. Thompson was a part of the 2016 championship team. Also, the newest Laker spent his first nine NBA seasons in Cleveland. However, Thompson has not played this season. But it seems as if the former Cavaliers star has stayed ready for the call to rejoin the league. Thompson may not see a lot of minutes. However, he could potentially give a few good minutes to a team that may need them.
Tristan Thompson Getting Up Shots As A Laker
Thompson will need to get acquainted with the Lakers rather quickly. The team will meet the Minnesota Timberwolves in the opening round of the play-in tournament. The teams will be competing for the seventh seed in the Western Conference. The winning team will get some rest. While the losing team will have one more chance at making the playoff field. The Lakers have become a recent favorite among the media when picking an NBA champion. However, the team has to survive the play-in.
Tristan Thompson's return is a great story. But one would have to think his role will be more of a supportive role. Or even an extra body at practice for a team in desperate need of rest. Thompson's last appearance in the league was last season with the Chicago Bulls. Just last season, Thompson appeared for three different teams. The former Cleveland star was seen in 57 games that, included with Sacramento, Indiana, and Chicago. For the latest news in the NBA, keep it right here at HNHH.
