After sharing "Not Right Now" in August, Brooklyn singer Eli Sostre has teamed with Hennessey once again to release his new single "Drama." Like some of his other work, the track finds Sostre taking a fair amount of influence from rap in his approach to R&B. "Deep down you know this shit make you nervous," he sings defiantly. "Bulletproof, many n---as couldn't hurt us / I'm protecting all my blessings that's for certain / Fuck the stars that you been with this the real / Hold it down if I fall you know the drill / I've been looking in your eyes I see the signs / Nevermind, I put the phone on decline."
Production comes courtesy of Blair Norf and Soriano, the latter of which should be a familiar name to fans of Sostre. Soriano contributed to every instrumental of Eli's July project Sleep Is For The Weak. In an interview with Respect Mag, Eli explained how he got into music through his friendship with the producer. "I think the music I grew up around inspired me," he said. "My mom listened to a lot of R&B & Latin ballads while cleaning around the house so subconsciously I think that molded the melodic side of me. I always wanted to make beats, I met my best friend Soriano in high school and we started making beats at the same time. That’s where it all started.
If you've yet to hear Sostre's most recent project, it's available for stream on SoundCloud.
Quotable Lyrics:
Deep down you know
This shit make you nervous
Bulletproof, many n---as couldn't hurt us
I'm protecting all my blessings that's for certain
Fuck the stars that you been with this the real
Hold it down if I fall you know the drill
I've been looking in your eyes I see the signs
Nevermind, I put the phone on decline
