In the months following her split from Tom Brady, Gisele Bündchen's name has often been in the headlines for reasons related to her divorce. Before she met the NFL superstar, however, the 42-year-old had no issue attracting media attention on her own, working as one of the highest-paid models in the world from the early 2000s on. Recently, she's been getting back into the same line of work, posing for various publications and campaign shoots as she begins to navigate life as a single woman.
When she was younger, Bündchen actually had dreams of becoming an athlete herself. However, he mother enrolled her and her sisters in a modelling course rather than allow the Brazilian to play volleyball as she dreamed of. Following their education, the family took a trip around the country where she was ultimately discovered by Elite Model Management while shopping at a mall. In 1995, she moved to São Paulo to launch her career, and the next year, she made her New York Fashion Week debut.
Gisele Bündchen's Prime Modelling Days
Like most in the industry, the mother of two faced her share of rejection. She received 42 "no's" in London before being cast in Alexander McQueen's 1998 runway. That same year, Bündchen went on to pose for luxury brands such as Missoni, Valentino, Chloé, and Ralph Lauren. In 2000, Rolling Stone dubbed her "the most beautiful girl in the world" as she became the fourth model to ever cover the publication.
The decades since then have seen the foreign beauty continue to improve her craft, as well as tie the knot with Brady in 2009. Even with marriage and children on her list of responsibilities, she continued to pose for countless covers, write a book, and remain in terrific shape. After taking some time to recover from the heartache of divorce, Bündchen has been getting back to work recently, even swinging on a stripper pole for her latest campaign with shoe company Arezzo.
She's Back and Better Than Ever
On Thursday (March 9), the brand unveiled its latest photoshoot with the blonde beauty, which finds her looking sleek and sexy in knee-high black boots and a thong-cut bodysuit in the same colour. In an accompanying video, Bündchen struts in her fancy shoes, showing off her dancing skills as she elegantly glides around before wrapping her legs around the pole. "Back and stronger than ever," the translated caption describes the campaign's star.
Aside from these sultry new snapshots, she also turned heads on February's Vogue Italia cover. At the time, the industry icon seriously switched up her look, donning a red wig and ultra-thin pencilled-on eyebrows.
