21 Savage is officially a major label artist. The Savage Mode rapper announced that he had signed a deal with Epic Records on his appearance on the Rap Radar podcast. 21's decision to sign with Epic was all about legendary music exec L.A. Reid, who is currently the Chairman and CEO of Epic. According to 21, he signed with L.A. "because he's black. He's probably the last black CEO. Why not? He'll understand me before anyone else." He also said, "I want to sign to someone who believes in me and understands me."
Later on, 21 spoke on his relationship with Drake, who he collaborated with on "Sneakin," revealing that the two have been friends since long before they worked on the song together. "We been fuckin' with each other before Slaughter King even came out," he said. "Drake genuine. I feel like he's a genuine person."
