Saturday afternoon, Canadian singer-songwriter Alessia Cara dropped off her own take of SZA’s “Drew Barrymore” single from the latter's debut studio effort CTRL.
“Had this laying around for a bit so I decided to post it,” Cara wrote in the description that accompanied the track. “This album is magic,” she further added of CTRL.
Judging from previous interactions that Cara has shared with the TDE songstress via Twitter, it’s clear that the two singers share a mutual admiration for each other’s music.

It was back in 2015 that the 21-year old Alessia made her stellar debut in the form of her Know-It-All studio album. The project enjoyed its peak at a comfy No. 9 spot on the US Billboard Hot 200, and went on to be certified Platinum after selling the equivalent of over 1,000,000 units.
Since then, her profile has climbed in rank following the succeses of her breakout single “Here,” her most recent empowering solo effort “Scars To Your Beautiful,” and her feature on rapper Logic’s “1-800-273-8255,” alongside singer Khalid. Since it release, the track, featured on Logic's Everybody album, has peaked at the No. 9 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and got Cara a Gold plaque after pushing over 500,000 units recently.
As for SZA, her CTRL, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 200 following its June release. While “Drew Barrymore” was the project’s lead single, it also produced notable tracks such as “The Weeklend,” and the Travis Scott-assisted “Love Galore.”
