Electronic group Gorillaz have been doing their best to take the charts by storm over the last couple of weeks, releasing tracks featuring the likes of Pusha T, Popcaan, Vince Staples and more. It appears music isn’t the only thing the group is working on. In a recent interview with frontman Damon Albarn and animator Jamie Hewlett, the duo told Q Magazine that there may be a Gorillaz television show coming.
According to Pitchfork's report, the group has a 10-episode television show in the works. Animator Hewlett is in charge of it, but nothing more is known about the show aside from its existence. However, it’s possible the show is an adaptation of a film the Gorillaz discussed making with DreamWorks but never came to fruition because “it was too dark to spend a couple of hundred million dollars on.” Of course, the Gorillaz have long been known for their distinct animation style, beginning with the infectious video for “Clint Eastwood.”
Wherever the show appears, we’re more than down to watch it. The full interview is out tomorrow in the print edition of Q Magazine.
