Back in January, Gorillaz's illustrator Jamie Hewlett posted a new Gorillaz cartoon on Instagram, exciting fans with the comment: "Yes. Gorillaz Returns." Since then, we haven't heard a peep out of the duo, but today we get more good news and a confirmation that an album will (really) soon be in the works.
Damon Albarn (who also leads Blur) confirmed that in September he will reconvene Gorillaz and start working on a new album, to follow up 2011's The Fall. During an interview with an Australian TV show 7.30, Albarn commented on getting back to work. "I'm starting recording in September for a new Gorillaz record. I’ve just been really, really busy so I haven’t had a chance," he said on the program. "I’d love to just get back in to that routine of being at home and coming to the studio five days a week."
