HBO has announced that it is currently developing scripts for multiple Game Of Thrones spinoffs that will “explore different time periods of George R.R. Martin’s vast and rich universe.”
The 7th season of Game Of Thrones is scheduled to kickoff on July 16th and there are only 13 episodes remaining in the series, so news that HBO plans to develop as many as four spinoffs should help ease the imminent post-GOT blues.
According to EW, there's no word on what time period, or which characters, these spinoffs or prequels will include, and it’s possible one or more could be produced as a miniseries.
Per EW,
“There is no set timetable for these projects,” HBO said. “We’ll take as much or as little time as the writers need and, as with all our development, we will evaluate what we have when the scripts are in.”
