"Game of Thrones" fans rejoice!

Game of Thrones has had a tremendous run on TV thanks to HBO’s support and an addicting story from George R.R. Martin. However, the show is only a couple seasons away from ending, as all good things must do. As part of the show’s wrap-up, HBO said last summer that Season 7 (and presumably Season 8) would only be seven episodes long. However, HBO still hasn’t renewed Season 8, and an interview with Entertainment Weekly has the show’s creators considering extending the final season by a few episodes.

HBO’s President of Programming Casey Bloys revealed that creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are still unsure of how many episodes the final season will contain. He also clarifies that they definitely are not considering shortening the concluding season at all.

Any additional episodes will be welcome news to HBO, which will certainly miss their most popular show once its gone. Once the final season is officially picked up by HBO, we’ll have confirmation of exactly how many more episodes we’ll get to enjoy Game of Thrones. Additionally, Bloys said a prequel would be more likely than a full-fledged spin-off, but that nothing is concrete yet.

If you haven’t started watching yet, there’s plenty of time to binge the first six seasons before Season 7 drops this summer. Whet your appetite with Samuel L. Jackson’s beginner’s guide to Game of Thrones.
