Yup, it's finally happening. Four years after the release of the first G.O.O.D. Music compilation album, Cruel Summer, and at least three years after talk/rumors/confusion of a Cruel Winter album initially began, the G.O.O.D. camp is finally gearing up to release the highly anticipated Cruel Summer follow-up.
Early this morning, Kanye sent out a tweet alerting fans that the album's first single would premiere live on Big Boy. After a bit of a delay and no song title or features revealed, Big Boy got into the record, which turned out to be a massive one. Kanye still hasn't confirmed the proper title, but as Big Boy said on-air, it's got to be either "Champions" or "Round & Round" (we got our bases covered with both). It features varied artists, from G.O.O.D. Music's own Desiigner, Travis Scott and Big Sean, to newly-freed Gucci Mane, honorary G.O.O.D. Music member 2 Chainz, Yo Gotti and Quavo. Kanye told Big Boy of the record, "I had the basic beat for a year and a half. It sounded right for this project." It's definitely got big production, with triumphant synths, hard-hitting bass and moments of static, while Travis provides a hyped-up hook.
Does it live up to your expectations/the line-up? Take a listen to the radio rip and let us know.
Quotable Lyrics
Pray for me
I'm about to hit the Ye button
I don't wanna say nothin' wrong
But it'd be wrong if I ain't say nothin'
Imagine if I ain't say somethin'
Wasn't nothin', you could say nothin'
- Kanye
