Battle rap is quickly growing as a culture. What was almost completely relegated to street corners and Youtube a few years ago has garnered national recognition, more tv programming, Pay-Per-View events, and other attention of the mainstream media. Hip Hop icons like Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Drake have put on events for the battle scene and at this rate things can only continue to expand. That being the case, we’re here to keep you updated on all things battle rap. It’s always a great time to join the culture.
Hello, and welcome to today’s edition of What’s New In Battle Rap. It hasn’t been the biggest couple weeks for battle releases, but we’ve still got some good ones for y’all. KOTD dropped the last battle from their “Ganik vs Gully” event, which is one a lot of us have been waiting for. We’ve also got battles with JC and Big T, and of course DNA found himself a battle to be in. But what’s really exciting is what’s to come, with some huge names calling people out for battles.
DNA vs Joey Gambello
Toronto MC and Beast Mode regular Joey Gambello faces his biggest named opponent yet in this battle against DNA.
Illipsis vs E. Farrell
This “Surprise Party 2” battle from King of the Dot features two of KOTD’s rising stars with highly respected bars and constructively criticized delivery.
Dialect vs Lu Cipher
Lu Cipher travels from Florida to England to battle local vet Dialect in a somewhat last minute battle that was supposed to happened at a prior Don’t Flop event.
JC vs Krome
JC, one of the most respected MCs in battle rap, goes to Canada to give Krome arguably the biggest test of his career.
The Saurus vs Carter Deems
The Saurus and Carter Deems show up for the final release of “Ganik vs Gully”, which is an odd choice for this event when you think about the fact that Carter has been battling since the Grindtime era.
Big T vs Mr Re
In the last battle of Don’t Flop’s “8th Birthday Weekend”, Big T and Mr Re end things with a one rounder and Big T’s second battle of the event.
Aye Verb Wants to Battle B Dot in St. Louis
Aye Verb initially said he would not battle B Dot. Now he’s saying that he’s willing to battle him if B Dot will travel to St. Louis. Many fans would love to see this battle take place, especially considering that Aye Verb in his hometown is a much more impressive battler than he is when outside of it.
Charron Calls Out Dizaster
Charron recently took to Instagram to offer a $60,000 challenge to Dizaster, who is apparently the only person Charron wants to battle. Dizaster apparently feels like the battle isn't worth his time, as it won't do much for him.
T-Top vs Goodz Announced for N.O.M.E. 7
Coming off of a very impressive battle against Tsu Surf, T-Top has risen through the URL ranks and it’s no surprise to see him back on Night of Main Events. Goodz is also a URL favorite and his return helps make this battle highly anticipated.
