The Cleveland Indians are headed to the World Series for the first time since 1997 after completing a "gentleman's sweep" of Jose Bautista and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Prior to last night's series-clinching win, Bautista expressed confidence in the veteran Blue Jays while taking a jab at the Indians Game 5 pitcher, Ryan Merritt, who was scheduled to make just the second start of his career.
“With our experience in our lineup,” Bautista said, “I’m pretty sure he’s going to be shaking in his boots more than we are.”
The Indians took that "shaking in his boots" line and ran with it, especially when the rookie Merritt blanked the Blue Jays through 4.1 innings.
After beating the Blue Jays 3-0 last night, a couple of Indians players tossed some well-deserved boot-inspired shade Bautista's way while they celebrated their AL pennant with champagne showers and cowboy boots.
