A Tribe Called Quest just released their sixth studio album, We Got It from Here... Thank You 4 Your Service, on Friday, which is their first since 1998's The Love Movement, as well as their first since the death of founding member Phife Dawg, who passed away from complications of diabetes earlier this year (though he did contribute to the project). It's also set to be the group's swansong, so it's safe to say there's a fair amount of hype around the project.
According to Hits Daily Double, the excitement around We Got It from Here... (which is also getting rave reviews) should translate to an impressive sales week, with the LP projected to sell 60-70,000 units in traditional sales and 73-83,000 including streams. With these numbers, it's possible that Tribe could debut at the top of the charts, where it will likely see competition from the latest album by Leonard Cohen, who died earlier this week at 82.
Tribe also performed on this weekend's Dave Chappelle-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live, which could surely contribute to some sales. Watch surviving members Q-Tip, Jarobi White and Ali Shaheed Muhammad pay tribute to the late Phife on the show here.
