New Balance issues statement regarding their pro-Trump comments.

New Balance came out in support of President-elect Donald Trump following the shocking outcome of the election, which resulted in backlash and threats of a boycott from some loyal supporters of the Boston-based brand.

New Balance's VP of public affairs had this to say following the election, "The Obama admin turned a deaf ear to us & frankly w/ Pres-Elect Trump we feel things are going to move in the right direction."

Early this morning, the brand explained their position in a statement via Sole Collector in which they specifically highlighted the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement as the reason they feel things are moving in the right direction.

"As the only major company that still makes athletic shoes in the United States, New Balance has a unique perspective on trade and trade policy in that we want to make more shoes in the United States, not less," the statement reads. "New Balance publicly supported the trade positions of Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Donald Trump prior to election day that focused on American manufacturing job creation and we continue to support them today."

"The statement is correct in the context of trade, not talking about large geo-political anything, but in the context of the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement," LeBretton said.

Are all of these NB fans going to dig through the trash to get their sneakers back now or is the boycott still on?
