Battle rap is quickly growing as a culture. What was almost completely relegated to street corners and Youtube a few years ago has garnered national recognition, more tv programming, Pay-Per-View events, and other attention of the mainstream media. Hip Hop icons like Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Drake have put on events for the battle scene and at this rate things can only continue to expand. That being the case, we’re here to keep you updated on all things battle rap. Now is a great time to join the culture.
Hello there, battle fans! This week’s round of battle updates includes two huge releases from King of the Dot’s Massacre 2 event. We got Bigg K vs Head I.C.E. and Iron Solomon vs B Magic, both of which had a lot of hype for good reason. We've also got a huge new battle announcement from URL. While these leagues thrived, Don't Flop struggled with Youtube over copyright claims. That all got settled quickly, though.
QP vs Cortez
In this battle for Homegrown battle league, Cortez enjoys some homefield advantage against Stockton battler QP.
Bigg K vs Head I.C.E.
This King of the Dot battle had the venue going crazy at Massacre 2. Two of battle rap’s most aggressive fan favorites go at it to the delight of the crowd.
Qleen Paper vs Zig Zag
Qleen Paper and Zig Zag put together a pretty amusing battle for Bodybag Battle League’s I Just Wanna Rap event.
Rosenberg Raw vs Reed Dollaz
It’s fitting that this battle from Raise The Steaks features two Philly fan favorites in Reed Dollaz and Rosenberg Raw.
Iron Solomon vs B Magic
Never wanting to disappoint their fans, King of the Dot put another huge match up together with this one. Iron Solomon takes on another one of battle rap’s current heavyweights in B Magic.
DOT vs Young X
It took a while for Smack to release this battle, and many are saying it wasn’t worth the wait to see DOT get bodied by a less than stellar Young X performance.
Rum Nitty Battling Charlie Clips at Unfinished Business 2
It’s been announced that Rum Nitty will battle Charlie Clips at URL’s recently postponed Unfinished Business 2 event.
Don’t Flop’s Youtube Channel Terminated
U.K. battle league Don’t Flop lost their Youtube channel (for about a day) due to copyright claims. The message from Youtube stated, “Don't Flop Entertainment has been terminated because we received multiple third-party claims of copyright infringement regarding material the user posted”. Don’t Flop’s website contained a message from Eurgh saying they have been dealing with fake copyright claims and that they’re working with Youtube to get reinstated. They must work fast, because the channel was back up the next day.
