With the clock striking midnight, Pusha T’s new album, Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude, was made available for purchase on iTunes, featuring guest appearances from Kanye West, The-Dream, and A$AP Rocky among others. To coincide with its release, the G.O.O.D. Music President also released a 22-minute short film in its support on his youtube page as well.
Starring Push himself & TV actor/G-Unit member Rotimi, the Kid Art-directed film is a dark, action packed-visual that follows the downfall of three street hustlers, while visually portraying the soundtrack to the album, playing specific records as “M.F.T.R.,” and “Crutches, Crosses, Caskets,” & “M.P.R.”
It also serves as a representation of Pusha T's mindset while recording the album as well. He tells Billboard, "I was in a bit of an aggressive mind state [while recording the album] simply because I sort of feel like the last rap superhero."
Check out the dark short film above. And if you haven’t already, be sure to give Darkest Before Dawn a listen right here on HNHH.
