If you were on Twitter at all this weekend, chances are you heard/saw something about a kid named Bobby Shmurda and his "Shmoney Dance," a series of jerky, comical movements that have been blowing up on Vine.
The 20-year-old rapper from East Flatbush, Brooklyn is a member of the GS9 music group, which also includes artists like Rowdy Rebel (of "Shmoney Dance"), Richie P and Cory Finesse, all of whom make hard-nosed street music that bears some similarities to drill.
"Hot Nigga" was released in March, and it's one of the crew's best tracks, thanks to Shmurda's deft rhymes over the beat to Lloyd Banks' "Jackpot." The video shows GS9's locally-focused style, with Shmurda bringing seemingly the whole block out for the video shoot.
Get ready for Bobby Shmurda and GS9 to blow up-- it's not every day that a crew goes from anonymous to ubiquitous overnight. Check out more of their tracks on the GS9 SoundCloud and let us know what you think in the comments.
