What a tumultuous last few days it's been. Reports of Prince's sudden passing rocked us on Thursday, but then hours later we got a new A$AP Ferg album. About 48 hours after that, Lemonade arrived, effectively shutting down everything else on the internet at the time. That few days' worth of events seems busier and more noteworthy than most of what happened in the entire month prior, and this spree of activity is only just beginning; who knows what will happen with Views From The 6 on Friday?
Over on our Top 10 though, most of the week's biggest events weren't represented. The Game's Prince tribute landed five spots too low to be included, the only A$AP Ferg songs available for streaming are either bonus tracks or outtakes from Always Strive And Prosper, and obviously with Beyoncé's Tidal deal, none of her new songs are eligible. Rather than keeping last week's batch in place though, this created a bunch of room for new tracks to slip in, making for a weekly list that's over half brand new. Two young pop stars shared big singles, a few new 4/20 anthems popped up, and people keep making it seem like a Young Thug/Lil Uzi Vert album would be the most-viewed project of the year if it happened. Read on to get the scoop.
10. Mac Miller Feat. Dave East - Headaches & Migranes (Prod. by Cardo)
The sure highlight of TreeJay and DJ Clockwork's Smoke Till I'm Dead 4/20 tape is the Cardo-produced first-ever collab between Mac Miller and Dave East. The Kush & OJ architect gives them a woozy palette to fuck with, and they both come through with great flows and bars. Mac's hook, peaking with the line "This ain't just a couple screws loose, straight jacket crazy," is truly something to behold. "Headaches & Migranes" debuts at #10.
9. Lil Uzi Vert & Young Thug - Yea Hoe (CDQ) (Prod. by Maaly Raw)
Despite its low user ratings, Thugger and Lil Uzi's "Dope" has now appeared in our top ten for five consecutive weeks, so it was pretty easy to predict that their new track would wind up here in its first week of eligibility. What's more, "Yea Hoe" is a much better song than "Dope," which still sounds unfinished. We're pretty sure Juicy J and DJ Paul would be totally okay with this repurposing of their popular ad-lib. "Yea Hoe" debuts at #9.
8. A$AP Ferg - FLEM (Prod. by Kirk Knight)
Ferg's new album is all over the place in terms of sound and genre, ranging from the EDM of "Hungry Ham" and "Strive" to the warm boom bap of "Psycho." Loosie "FLEM" is definitely closer to the latter, with Pro Era's Kirk Knight supplying a delicately-looped backdrop and Ferg giving a more tempered vocal performance than usual. "FLEM" debuts at #8.
7. Kid Cudi - All In (Prod. by Mike Will Made It)
Cudder's campaign to restore his image after Speedin' Bullet To Heaven continued last week with the drop of this Mike Will-produced gem. The first Man On The Moon surely inspired plenty of producers who blew up a few years later, so it'd be cool to see Cudi link up with them for a stylistically similar new release. "All In" drops down two spots from #5 to #7 in its second week.
6. Rae Sremmurd - Look Alive (Prod. by Mike Will Made It)
I usually try to keep things pretty unbiased on this feature, but I really can't hide how much I fucking love this track. I've heard very few other songs in my life that blend the turn-up with a world-weary sound with such ease-- "Look Alive" sounds like rolling on a Southern evening when it's too humid to move, with Mike Will's hazy soundscape pierced only by the crystal-clear voices of the brothers Sremmurd. Sremmlife 2 should be a movie. "Look Alive" slides down from #4 to #6 in its second week.
5. The Game Feat. Wiz Khalifa & Lorine Chia - Two Blunts (420)
Game's two releases this past week were pretty out-of-character. For starters, hearing him drop a smokers anthem was pretty unexpected, but not nearly as much as seeing him lament the loss of a dude who makes Young Thug's gender-bending fashion choices seem conservative. Maybe he'll think twice before using the painted nails emoji as an insult again. Anyway, "Two Blunts" is a nice and smooth change of pace from last year's Documentary 2. It debuts at #5.
4. Ariana Grande Feat. Lil Wayne - Let Me Love You
Ariana's never been hugely popular on HNHH, so will things change on her new album? The Lil Wayne-assisted "Let Me Love You" is on pace to becoming her most-viewed song on the site, and it's not surprising. Even if Tunechi wasn't on here, Grande's toned down her Mariah worship into something that hews a bit closer to Aaliyah, and it's a welcome change. "Let Me Love You" debuts at #4.
3. Young Thug Feat. Lil Uzi Vert - Dope
This thing just won't quit. "Dope" rose to a new peak at #6 in its fourth week on the charts last week, and now it's jumped another three places. There's no telling how big it'll be once a final version drops.
2. Post Malone - Go Flex
An acoustic-guitar-led track by a white dude debuting at #2 on HNHH?! I never would have thought it was possible, but Post Malone did it with "Go Flex," a new one that's sure to put his debut album on the fast-track after it follows up "White Iverson" as another successful single. Is he on-pace to becoming an A-list star now that he's surpassed one-hit-wonder status? Only time will tell.
1. Drake - Pop Style (New Verse)
The two existing versions of "Pop Style" (this one and the first version that sits at #14 this week) have more pageviews than the rest of the top ten combined. Crazy. It's no secret that Drake is a sure shot to best everyone else in views on HNHH-- nine of the site's ten most popular songs of all-time involve him in some way-- but this seems to be the one whose final version people are most anxious to hear.
