Chris Paul and Blake Griffin have notified the Clippers front office they won't pick up player options in their contracts for next season. The decision allows both players to become unrestricted free agents as soon as July 1.
Despite the move the Clippers could still sign CP3 and Griffin when they hit the market do to the teams financial situation. However, both players are sure to have plenty of suitors.
Rumors have swirled the entire NBA season surrounding Griffin and potential free agency or trade destinations in Oklahoma City or Boston. The Spurs have shown a strong interest in a free agency run at Paul if he hit the market.
Although the Clippers may be able to outbid anyone for Paul, one has to wonder for the 32-year-old point guard does he feel the window has closed in Clipper land and is the pursuit of a title now more important than ever.
