"That's a helluva consolation prize."

The Golden State Warriors will look to complete their sweep over the Cleveland Cavaliers, and their sweep of the entire post-season, tonight in Game 4 of the NBA Finals which is a moment Draymond Green and co. have been looking forward to since last year's Game 7 loss.

According to a new story by ESPN's Zach Lowe, immediately following Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, Draymond Green made two phone calls from the parking lot at Oracle Arena to begin recruiting Kevin Durant

Green first called Warriors GM Bob Myers to say, "It's on you," regarding the possibility of bringing KD to the Bay Area. With his "very next call" Draymond hit up KD.

"Green hung up, stayed in the parking lot, and made another call -- to Durant. "That was my very next call," Green said. Two weeks later, Durant signed a maximum contract that put him in a Golden State uniform for at least one season, with several more seasons likely to come."

Draymond still takes blame for Golden State blowing a 3-1 lead to the Cavs last year but he says he'll take the consolation prize of now having Kevin Durant on their roster, something that likely wouldn't have happened had they beaten Cleveland in 2016.

"I look at it as we lost the Finals, but we ended up with KD," Green said. "That's a helluva consolation prize."

"If we win the championship, I'm like 99 percent sure we don't get him," Green said. "There are silver linings to everything."
