The Los Angeles Lakers secured the #2 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft during last night's lottery selection, paving the way for Magic Johnson and co. to draft the hometown kid Lonzo Ball - assuming Boston doesn't throw a wrench in their plans.
Of course, Magic and the Lakers won't say whether or not they've already made up their mind but as far as Lonzo's father LaVar is concerned, his son will be wearing purple and gold in the NBA.
In fact, Lonzo will be working out for the Lakers, and only the Lakers, prior to the NBA Draft.
LaVar told LakersNation.com,
"That's all we working out for is the Lakers," LaVar said. "Just the Lakers. There's nobody else that we need to work out for."
"The Lakers make the playoffs as soon as my boy gets there," LaVar said.
"There's no doubt in my mind whatsoever," LaVar said. "I'm going to say it again, in English, speak it into existence. In Spanish, speak it into existence. In Africa, speak that (expletive) into existence."
Magic Johnson and Lakers GM Rob Pelinka have both said that LaVar's outlandish comments over the past few months won't impact the way the team evaluates his son leading into the draft.
We'll find out for sure where Lonzo and the rest of the 2017 Draft class will be playing next season on June 22nd. Check out the NBA Draft Lottery results right here.
