Eddie Murphy's older brother died after a long battle with leukemia.

One of the most memorable and recognizable American comedians of the century, Charlie Murphy died from leukemia Wednesday morning in a NYC hospital, according to TMZ. Eddie Murphy's older brother was 57.

He was known for starring in Chapelle's Show, notably in "Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories," where he and Dave spoofed 80s icons and party animals Prince and Rick James. The real Rick James even took part in some of them. His hilarious skits became cultural references that are still relevant today. The show launched his successful stand up career and a became a member of The Comedy Get Down tour.

He also worked with his brother Eddie on screenplays such as Norbit and Vampire in Brooklyn. He then co-starred in Are We There Yet?, The Boondocks and Black Jesus. His last film appearance was in 2016's Meet the Blacks.
